Roo Powell is the founder of SOSA — Safe from Online Sex Abuse. SOSA’s work has three prongs: prevention, intervention, and support. SOSA prevents harm by educating communities and advocating for effective legislation, intervene in active abuse by working with law enforcement, and support survivors by connecting them with essential resources.
She travels regularly to conduct undercover operations and train law enforcement, as well as advocate for more effective legislation and educate parents and communities about keeping their kids safe online. Roo has also been invited to join State Department’s U.S. Speaker Program, a public diplomacy initiative that partners with U.S. embassies and consulates internationally.
Her work at SOSA is the center of Undercover Underage, a docuseries following Roo and her team as they work in tandem with law enforcement to apprehend child predators. Seasons 1 and 2 are on HBO Max. SOSA Undercover, the continuation of Undercover Underage, currently has four seasons on YouTube.
Roo has been featured in/at Forbes, Newsweek, The Wall Street Journal, FOX News, Good Morning America, CNN Philippines, The Daily Beast, Daily Mail, Crime Junkie, and various other news outlets.
